Go Wilde at Melbourne Civic Theatre’s “Importance of Being Earnest”
A satire, the play pokes fun at manners, family, and marriage, and you don't have to have lived in Victorian England to get the humor.
Like most anybody else, I enjoy a good laugh when I get find one. I know, we’re all got busy lives between work, school, family, and whatnot. But its important to make some time during the work week to relax and enjoy yourself.
With that in mind, I recommend Oscar Wilde’s “The Importance of Being Earnest: A Trivial Comedy for Serious People.” Coming to the Melbourne Civic Theatre Friday, June 3rd, at 8pm, and then running Fridays and Saturdays (8pm) and Sundays (2pm) through Sunday June 26th, “The Importance…” is one of the most renowned (non-Shakespearean) comedies.
A satire, the play pokes fun at manners, family, and marriage, and you don’t have to have lived in Victorian England to get the humor here. Funny is funny, and the humor translates pretty well to our modern day and age (the lead matriarch is played by a patriarch).
Tickets are $20; $18 for students, seniors and military personnel.
The Melbourne Civic Theatre is only a 10 minute drive from The Lakeside at Greenboro Apartments.
